AASSA Invitational Membership

AASSA offers an Invitational Membership for those schools that wish to take advantage of AASSA’s services but not realize the Full Members’ savings on full services.

Heads of Invitational Member schools are not eligible for positions on the AASSA Board of Trustees.

Criteria for Invitational Membership

Schools must:

  1. be elementary and/or secondary schools
  2. be led by a Chief Administrative Officer
  3. have English as the primary language of instruction
  4. Invitational Member schools who are not fully accredited may be approved by committing to achieving accreditation within five (5) years by an organization recognized/approved by AASSA (U.S. regional accrediting agencies or CIS)
  5. have governance characteristics similar to those described in U.S. regional accreditation association governance standards
  6. agree to adhere to the principles, purposes and objectives of AASSA

Benefits of Invitational Membership

Invitational Member schools may:

  • Utilize AASSA’s purchasing service for a 10% service charge with no hidden charges—a savings of 2-5% compared to the market average.  Because AASSA buys in bulk, we pass along to our members the discounts we receive from vendors. Our shipper Ideal Cargo offers highly competitive rates for warehousing (which is free for 30 days) and shipping to AASSA member schools.
  • Attend the annual AASSA Recruiting Fair for a registration fee of $1,000 and pay only $750 for each candidate hired—the lowest fees of any agency.  Another advantage of this fair is that it is regional and all candidates aim to work in Latin America.
  • Attend AASSA professional development conferences.  AASSA offers four main professional development conferences per year: a Business Managers’ Institute in Miami in July, a Board Chair–Heads’ Governance Conference in Miami in September, and an Educators’ Conference in South America in October.
  • Have students participate in the annual GIN (Global Issues Network) Conference
  • Participate in AASSA’s Payment Processing Service to facilitate salary payments to your staff for $6.00 per transaction. With AASSA’s new banking arrangements, we will also be able to process payment  into the accounts of Canadians as well as Americans.
  • Participate in the biennial AASSA Salary and Benefits Survey for the region
  • Take online courses through our partnership with Knowledge Delivery Systems and JkGlobal
  • Enjoy reduced rates on K12 online courses
  • Awards to AASSA heads of school for both service and outstanding contributions to the regionA quarterly AASSA Newsletter
  • Participate in the Aprenda Test of Spanish Proficiency
  • Student Awards:  the AASSA Global Citizens Award sponsored by TieCare and the Margaret Sanders Scholarship
